Photovoice Study
Coming to UTM and Community Venues
In the Quiet of Everyday Life: Indian and Pakistani Lives in the GTA offers an intimate window into the diverse experiences of Indian and Pakistani immigrants in the Peel region. Through photographs and narratives from 15 Hindu, Muslim and Sikh community participants, this photovoice exhibit moves beyond stereotypes to reveal the richness of everyday diasporic life—from moments of connection and celebration to challenges and quiet reflection. The themes identified as most significant by participants themselves now guide our larger research project on immigrant experiences in the GTA. By centering community voices and perspectives, this exhibit captures how the seemingly ordinary moments of daily life contain profound meaning and potential for transformation. Join us from October 9-17, 2025 at the University of Toronto Mississauga in witnessing these powerful stories that reshape how we understand immigrant life in our region.
