Laiba Butt
Laiba is a fourth-year Psychology major, minoring in Biomedical Communications and Education Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga. As a Research Assistant in Dr. Ganapathy-Coleman's lab, her responsibilities include recruiting participants, collecting qualitative data through daily diary entries, and conducting in-depth interviews focused on the cultural practices and lived experiences of South Asian immigrants in Peel. She has also received training in preliminary coding and qualitative data analysis to identify recurring patterns and emerging themes. She is interested in research that focuses on the experiences of immigrant communities, as it helps in understanding their diverse needs and challenges while supporting the development of programs and policies that promote a smooth transition into society. In the future, she hopes to continue pursuing research that raises awareness about the challenges faced by South Asian and Muslim immigrant communities in Canada.
