Ravneet Kalsi

Ravneet is a fourth-year Neuroscience specialist at UTM. First as a work study student and then as an RA in Dr. Ganaapthy-Coleman’s lab, she has contributed to the Study of South Asian Indian Immigrant Lives examining the everyday lives of first and second generation Indian and Pakistani immigrants in the GTA, assisting in recruitment, data collection through in-depth interviews, and analysis of qualitative data. She has also facilitated Photovoice workshops with community members and is involved in planning the upcoming Photovoice exhibit. Her language abilities in Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu helped her connect with a diverse group of community members ranging from 18 to 80+ years of age. Having grown up in both India and the GTA, Ravneet is interested in learning more about how South Asian immigrant experiences impact their lives, families and future generations. She hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the community around her and help break down stereotypes and discrimination that exists towards the South Asian diaspora.
