Seerat Natt
Seerat Natt is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto Mississauga, double majoring in Psychology and Biology for Health Sciences. She is currently working as a volunteer on Everyday Life and Meaning-Making Among Indian Immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area. As someone who was raised in Brampton in a multigenerational Punjabi household, this project speaks to her on both a personal and academic level. She sees her family, neighbours, and childhood reflected in the stories they are gathering, stories that are too often framed through a pathologizing lens. Her interest lies in contributing to research that is culturally grounded and emotionally attuned, work that asks better questions and truly listens to lived experience. She is currently learning about and gaining experience with qualitative methods including in-depth interviewing and narrative coding. Her personal, professional, and academic paths are united by a shared goal and hope: to shape a psychology that reflects the realities and resilience of communities like hers.
