Anitha Sampathu

Anitha was a Research Assistant in Dr. Ganapathy-Coleman’s lab, contributing to the SAIL-GTA project on South Asian immigrant experiences. She assisted with designing a photovoice study on the everyday lives of Indian community members, with the aim of exploring the prominent meanings within immigrant experiences in the Greater Toronto Area. She also co-created the resulting research poster, which was presented at the ROP research symposium. Through her role, Anitha received training in qualitative methods, including photovoice methodology through the Centre for Community Based Research. In addition, she analyzed social media discourse by examining South Indian food TikTok comments to better understand food attitudes and nostalgic associations with cultural cuisine.
