Eesha Aamir

Eesha Aamir is a recent graduate of the University of Toronto Mississauga, where she studied Psychology and Biology for Health Sciences. She contributed to Phase II of the Photovoice study, exploring the everyday experiences of South Asian immigrants in the GTA. Her work included participant recruitment, data collection, workshop facilitation, and interviews, with a focus on supporting individuals in sharing the stories behind their photos. She especially valued creating space for participants to lead the conversations, allowing their voices to come forward authentically. To ensure accessibility for all participants, she prepared written translations, creating a comfortable environment where they could share openly and confidently. This experience allowed her to gain insight into the perspectives of older immigrants, whose stories are often overlooked, deepening her interest in cultural psychology. The project reinforced her understanding of how culture and daily life shape identity and how this style of research can empower communities to speak on their own terms. Eesha hopes to bring this cultural awareness into a career in psychotherapy, supporting individuals with compassion and meaningful engagement.
