Sehajleen Kaur Wander

Sehajleen Kaur Wander is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto Mississauga, pursuing a double major in Cultural Anthropology and Criminology. She is a Research Assistant in Dr. Ganapathy-Coleman’s lab, where she interviews first-generation South Asian immigrants in the Greater Toronto Area to explore how lifestyle, religious, cultural, and food practices are maintained or reshaped in Canada compared to India. Conducting interviews in Punjabi and Hindi, she also translates and transcribes them, providing valuable insight into immigrant experiences across languages and generations. Currently, she is working on thematic coding and qualitative analysis of these narratives.

Sehaj’s research interests include immigration, diaspora studies, and decolonization, with a focus on how cultural identity and family dynamics shift through migration. She brings strong skills in writing, analysis, and cross-cultural engagement, as well as prior leadership and research experience. Looking forward, she hopes to continue working at the intersections of immigration and law, particularly in advancing immigrant rights and supporting diasporic communities.
