Sreya Sayeed
Sreya has been a research assistant at UTM SAIL Lab since Fall 2023, assisting with the first stage of Photo Voice Project "Studying the Lives of Indian and Pakistani Immigrants in the GTA" under Dr. Ganapathy-Coleman's supervision. She has been involved with recruiting and training participants for photo voice, data collection, one-on-one interviews and facilitating workshops for data analysis. Sreya presented the research findings from the first stage of the Photo Voice Project at UTM Psychology Undergraduate Research Day 2024 and has recently been involved in planning the Photo Voice Exhibit. A first-generation immigrant from Bangladesh, Sreya has always been interested in learning about the South Asian Diaspora. Her research interests include mental health care practices in the South Asian Diaspora, culturally sensitive therapy practices and equitable and accessible mental health care policies. She recently graduated from University of Toronto Mississauga with an Honours Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology with double minors in Political Science and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies.
